ystems that embrace asynchronous operations.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nIn this talk
we'll look at what CQRS is\, how it lives up to the promises\, and what
kinds of systems would benefit from this approach. And then we’ll take
the pattern and see what it takes to implement on top of Windows Azure.&

13\;\n&#13\;\nIt’s no secret that jQuery provides a productive and fun w
 ay to build client-centric Web applications\, but there’s a new player i
n town called jQuery Templates that takes jQuery to a whole new level an
d makes building dynamic HTML 5 applications even easier. In this sessio
n\, Dan Wahlin will discuss how to use jQuery Templates and show how the
y can be used to significantly reduce the amount of JavaScript code that
has to be written (and make your apps more maintainable in the process)
. In this session you’ll learn about template tokens\, how to handle con
ditionals and loops\, and how templates can be dynamically downloaded an

mposition and MVC offers an extensibility model designed for composition
. Combining these two demonstrates a great composition design with nearl
y unlimited flexibility conditionally exposed as you need more features
within MVC. You’ll learn how to use dependency injection (DI) to compone
ntize tasks following single responsibility principle for more robust an
d testable applications. You’ll see how MVC uses custom model binders\,
value providers\, validators\, and filters. You’ll see these techniques
used to pull almost all code out of the website project\, giving you ful
l flexibility in how you organize your website’s code. You’ll also see g
eneric base classes that allow extensive reuse of controller logic and r
euse of page elements. This challenging talk offers something for everyo

DESCRIPTION:A serverless approach to computing is one where services requ
ired to run a system are managed and automated. Developers don’t need to
worry about running server instances and you pay only for the time code
is actually executing\, instead of servers hosted by the hour. Learn ho
w to build .NET based serverless applications with Amazon Web Services (
AWS). We’ll build an ASP.NET Core API and deploy it to AWS’s function as
a service\, Lambda and API Gateway. Then we'll deploy a single page app
lication (SPA) with AngularJS using AWS’s storage service\, S3 and conte
nt delivery network\, CloudFront. This entire serverless application wil
l be built\, deployed and ready to serve at scale during the demo.\n\nTa

DESCRIPTION:The Portland Azure User Group is a community of people excite
d about the endless possibilities of cloud computing\, data analytics\,
and security on Microsoft Azure. We believe the Azure platform offers ri
ch possibilities. We keep pace by sharing our learning and doing deep-di
ve explorations of topics as a community of learners. We run the gamut f
rom new to experienced users and welcome anyone who shares an interest i
 n cloud scalable infrastructure\, applications\, tools\, analytics\, ide
ntity management\, and security.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nSome great perks to join
ing our monthly meetups are networking\, knowledge transfer\, and commun
ity building. We aim to foster a vibrant community that shares success i
n implementing best practices for Microsoft Azure.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nSessio
n Details: Metadata Driven Pipelines for Dynamic Full and Incremental Pr
ocessing in Azure SQL&#13\;\n&#13\;\nDeveloping ETLs/ELTs can be a compl
ex process when you add in business logic\, large amounts of data\, and
the high volume of table data that needs to be moved from source to targ
et. This is especially true in analytical workloads involving Azure SQL
when there is a need to either fully reload a table or incrementally upd
ate a table. In order to handle the logic to incrementally update a tabl
e or fully reload a table in Azure SQL (or Azure Synapse)\, we will need
to create the following assets:&#13\;\n• Metadata table in Azure SQL&#1
3\;\n◦ This will contain the configurations needed to load each table en
d to end&#13\;\n• Metadata driven pipelines&#13\;\n◦ Parent and child pi
peline templates that will orchestrate and execute the ETL/ELT end to en
d&#13\;\n• Custom SQL logic for incremental processing&#13\;\n◦ Dynamic
SQL to perform the delete and insert based on criteria the user provides
in the metadata table&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThis session uses Azure SQL DB as
the source and sink databases. However\, Azure SQL MI\, On-Prem SQL\, an
d Synapse Dedicated Pools (along with Synapse Pipelines) will also be co
mpatible for this solution. As a source\, you can use databases like MyS
QL\, Oracle\, and others. You will just need to adjust the query syntax/
connections to match the desired source.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nGuest Speaker: M
arc Bushong&#13\;\nMarc Bushong\, Senior Cloud Solution Architect at Mic
rosoft\, has extensive experience in healthcare and higher education. He
  excels in Azure architecture\, end-to-end solution design\, and full-st
ack Azure development. His career began as a Radiologic Technologist\, p
roviding him with a unique perspective on the healthcare industry\, from
direct patient care to backend data engineering processes.\n\nTags: .ne
