DESCRIPTION:Most managers and HR professionals are never taught one of th
e most critical skills in business: how to let people go skillfully. Wit
hout these tools\, leaders often &quot\;wing it\,&quot\; leading to a cy
cle of fear\, guilt\, and avoidable mistakes that ripple through an enti
re organization.&#13\;\nWhat we will cover:&#13\;\nThe Reality of the Ga
p: We’ll examine the data showing why so many managers are left unprepar
ed without the training they need to handle departures.&#13\;\nThe Human
Impact: We will explore how &quot\;winging it&quot\; impacts the mental
health of the leader delivering the news and the dignity of the employe
e receiving it.&#13\;\nThe One Essential Skill: You will walk away with
one concrete\, repeatable skill to handle these conversations with clari
ty and composure.&#13\;\nWhy you should be there:&#13\;\nIf your company
hasn't invested in your training\, invest in yourself. Whether you are
the one having the conversation or the one on the receiving end\, unders
tanding the mechanics of this process changes the experience from one of
trauma to one of professional integrity.&#13\;\nStop fearing the conver

DESCRIPTION:This 3-hour workshop uses the Portland Art Museum as a settin
g to slow down and look at how you think. It is designed for those feeli
ng mentally overloaded or under sustained pressure who want a structured
way to step back.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nWe use the museum as a quiet\, neutral
environment to slow down observation. Using art as a shared reference p
oint for reflection\, we look at patterns of thinking without requiring
personal disclosure or art knowledge.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAdvanced registrati
on is required to keep the group size small. The exact meeting location
within the museum will be sent upon registration.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThe For
mat:&#13\;\n&#13\;\n90 minutes in the museum: Moving through galleries u
sing simple observation prompts.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n90 minutes of conversati
on: A facilitated discussion afterward at a nearby coffee shop to talk a
bout what resonated and why.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nFollow-up: Includes an optio
 nal one-hour Zoom check-in two weeks later.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nCost: $85. No
te: Museum admission is $27.50\, paid directly to the museum (free for m
embers).&#13\;\n&#13\;\nFacilitator: Ryan has worked in the arts for ove
r 20 years and serves as a business coach and mentor. This workshop uses
art as a practical tool to create perspective on how we think and work.

DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 5:15pm. We start at 5:30pm&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAbou
t this workshop&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThe foundation of a successful startup is
a good idea\, but most founders struggle to characterize the strength o
f their startup idea. As a result\, many founders invest their time\, mo
ney and effort only to build something nobody cares about. If only found
 ers could get a specific\, actionable signal sooner.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nTo o
vercome this challenge\, Nascent methodology enables founders to evaluat
e data from discovery interviews and quantify a startup idea in dollars
($). Ultimately\, founders are able to decide within seconds whether to
stop the project or continue iterating. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nThis workshop i
s ideal for founders of startups with no customers (i.e.\, idea-stage st
artups). You'll walk through a case study of a founder who applied Nasce
nt methodology to their startup idea. If you find the methodology compel
ling\, then you can join our January cohort and apply it to your own sta
rtup idea.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nIn this workshop\, we'll use a case study to
teach you to: &#13\;\n&#13\;\n- Identify People in Pain — potential cus
tomers who are actively struggling with a problem &#13\;\n&#13\;\n- Qua
ntify the Pain in Dollars ($) — to assess how much value you could creat
e by solving the problem &#13\;\n&#13\;\n- Avoid wasting time on ideas
that are unlikely to be successful &#13\;\n&#13\;\n- Make decisions wi
th minimal data (i.e.\, despite having few or no customers) &#13\;\n&#13

\;\nProductTheory.io workshop series at Kiln:&#13\;\nThere’s one chall
enge all founders have in common\, especially in 2025. It’s achieving pr
oduct market fit.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThis free workshop series at Kiln is b
ased on ProductTheory’s celebrated Product-Market Fit Canvas: a framewor
k for ensuring smart\, data-driven product development and market strate
gy.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nOpen to both Kiln members and the broader entreprene
urial community. Non-members get a free day pass to Kiln with their part

ent 20 years in the trenches - from Big Tech innovation teams to zero-to
-one product launches. She's seen what works and what wastes time. These
aren't theoretical workshops\; they're based on frameworks that have po
wered successful launches for AWS\, Recreation.gov\, and dozens of start
ups who went from idea to revenue.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nFree for both Kiln me
mbers and the broader community because great products make everyone's e
cosystem stronger. Just show up ready to work.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nSession 1
: Early Stages - Building Your First Customer-Facing Version (MVP) &#13\
;\nBuild smart from day one.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nYou're at one of the most
exciting and challenging stages of your journey - turning your vision in
to something real. The decisions you make now about what to build first
will shape everything that follows. In this session\, we'll walk through
how to create your MVP (Minimum Viable Product - your first testable ve
rsion) strategically. Whether you're technical or business-focused\, you
'll gain clarity on prioritizing features\, validating assumptions early
\, and building momentum with real user feedback. This is about setting
yourself up for sustainable growth from the start.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThe U

DESCRIPTION:Quantifying and Refining a Startup Idea&#13\;\nA good idea i
s the foundation of a successful startup\, yet most founders struggle to
characterize and enhance the strength of their idea — especially for st
artups without customers. In this 2-hour hands-on workshop\, participant
s will walk through a case study applying “Nascent Methodology\,” a nove
l\, unique approach to identify the earliest signals of opportunity for
startups without customers. Through guided exercises\, participants will
search for People in Pain (an initial indication of potential customers
) and will quantify the Pain in dollars ($). By the end of the workshop\
, founders will be able to evaluate a startup idea in seconds. Participa
nts will come away with a framework for evaluating and iteratively impro
ving their own startup ideas.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAdditionally\, participants
in the workshop will be eligible to join a cohort of founders who will
receive regular support as they apply this methodology in August and Sep
 tember.\n\nImported from: http://calagator.org/events/1250482146
