DESCRIPTION:**RSVP Required see RSVP instructions below!**&#13\;\n&#13\;\
nMay is all about SERVICES! Particularly\, Service Meshes and the Open S
ervice Broker.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nFirst Talk: An introduction to Conduit\, t
he Rust-based service mesh for Kubernetes&#13\;\n&#13\;\nThe creators of
the CNCF-hosted Linkerd service mesh\, Buoyant\, recently introduced Co
nduit--a new\, ultralight service mesh made explicitly for Kubernetes. I
n this talk\, Buoyant engineer Carl Lerche will introduce you to Conduit
 \, its design philosophy\, how it’s used to add reliability\, security\,
and visibility to Kubernetes applications\, our motivations for writing
  the Conduit data plane in Rust\, and how to get involved.&#13\;\n&#13\;
\nSecond Talk: Stateful is Hard: Hooking Apps up to Managed DBs&#13\;\n&
#13\;\nKubernetes lets us write crazy-powerful apps these days\, and all
three clouds will host it for you in some shape or form now. The result
is that our apps are mostly portable\, but there's more work to do in t
his space. Aaron Schlesinger of the Microsoft Azure Containers group exp
lains.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nDatabases are hard to maintain if you run them in
Kubernetes. Same with pub/sub systems\, or any combination of stateful a
nd data really. Sometimes we just want to hook our apps up to the cloud
equivalents of these things\, so we don't have to manage them. How do we
do _that_ in a portable way? Enter the Open Service Broker (OSB) API an
d Kubernetes Service Catalog.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nLearn how to connect your a
pps to all your favorite cloud services without ever opening the portal
or using the CLI. It's the same OSB API for all the clouds\, and the sam
e Kubernetes Service Catalog resources for any cluster. We're getting to
a place where you can get the services you need without caring what clo
ud your app runs on.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n**RSVP Required for this venue. Eit
her RSVP via Meetup.com (preferred)\, or send email to josh(at)berkus(do
t)org with your full name that matches your ID. All RSVPs must be recei
 ved by 4pm May 16th.**\n\nTags: docker\, containers\, kubernetes\, cloud
