 . This event is hosted by OMSI and sponsored by Nike\, Cambia Health Sol
 utions\, the University of Washington Foster School of Business Hybrid M
 BA\, and ClientJoy.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n2017 has been a big year for our comm
 unities and we are thrilled to come together\, for the fourth year\, to 
 celebrate the holidays and what we’ve accomplished. In honor of our cele
 bratory theme\, PDXWIT and WWC Portland will be recognizing individuals 
 for their great work over the year.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nPDXWIT will be honori
 ng two individuals\, Best Contributor and Best Speaker. If you or someon
 e you know has has been working hard to make PDXWIT a success or spoken 
 at one of our events\, please submit your nominations by November 19th. 
 The Best Contributor award will be selected in advance by a panel and fi
 nalists for the Best Speaker Award will perform runoff Lightning Talks a
 t the Holiday Party. The winner will be selected by text-to-vote.&#13\;\
 n&#13\;\nAt Women Who Code\, we regularly celebrate the achievements of 
 our members through the #ApplaudHer hashtag. We use #ApplaudHer to highl
 ight victories ranging from accepting a new position and receiving a pro
 motion to speaking at a conference and meeting a personal goal. The conc
 ept is simple: we believe that recognition can create change and that re
 writing public perceptions can transform tech. During the Women + Tech H
 oliday Party\, we will announce our Tech Leadership and Rising Tech Star
  winners from the many submissions we have received throughout the year.
 &#13\;\n&#13\;\nWhile the event is primarily intended for networking\, w
 e will have a segment to hear from our sponsors and introduce and announ
 ce awards.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nDuring the event\, we’ll have more to do than 
 free-form networking:&#13\;\n&#13\;\n  - an activity table where people 
 can get creative. This is a fantastic way to meet others if large groups
  are not your thing. If you have trouble finding it\, look for&#13\;\n  
   Meg Aul\, our Event Activities Director.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n  -  table top
 ics to help break the ice.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n  -  a section for job seekers

  Our purpose is to strengthen the Portland women in tech community by of
 fering educational programs\, partnerships\, mentorships\, resources and
  opportunities. We are unifying a supportive environment for current and
  potential women in tech\, all of whom are committed to helping each oth
 er. Our goal is to bring together and empower women in tech and to encou
 rage others to pursue tech careers. This is our step towards reducing th
 e gender imbalance in the industry and addressing the current negative e
 ffects of that imbalance on women.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\nOur ev
