DESCRIPTION:**Speaker**: Ted Laderas (http://laderast.github.io/) - Instr
 uctor\, Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology\, OHSU&#13\;\n&#13
\;\n**Abstract**: Many graduate students in the basic sciences are afrai
d of data exploration and cleaning\, which can greatly impact their down
stream analysis results. By using a synthetic dataset\, some simple `dpl
 yr` commands\, and a `shiny` dashboard\, we teach graduate students how
to explore their data and how to handle issues that can arise (missing v
alues\, differences in units). For this talk\, we'll run through a simpl
e EDA example (combining two weight loss datasets) with a general data e
xplorer in `shiny` that can be easily customized to teach specific EDA c
 oncepts.\n\nTags: pdxrlang\, r\, rstats\, statistics\, eda\, data\, data
 -analysis\, modeling\n\nImported from: http://calagator.org/events/12504
