DESCRIPTION:Monthly meeting of the open source GIS group PDX-OSGeo.&#13\;
 \n&#13\;\nDiscussion of all things spatial and open source. Tonight's gu
 est is Dave Mangold\, who will speak to us about how to create great car
 tographic products using QGIS and Inkscape.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAttendees of
 FOSS4G will remember the excellent map that Dave produced for the printe
 d program [1]. &#13\;\n&#13\;\nFrom Dave's Description of his map:&#13\;
 \n&#13\;\nThis map was created entirely from freely available data and o
 pen-source software. Data were obtained as shapefile downloads from METR
 O RLIS. These shapefiles were then loaded into a PostGIS database as spa
 tial tables. The initial map was created in QGIS. This map was then save
 d in a vector format and finished in InkScape\, where label adjustment a
 nd creation\, feature layering\, and annotation were accomplished. On th
 e map\, if you look closely at the southern portion of Naito Street (rig
 ht edge of left panel)\, you will see a hidden tribute to the free and o
 pen-source resources used.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n[1] https://2014.foss4g.org/wp
