DESCRIPTION:This month Rian van der Merwe will be giving a talk entitled
&quot\;Getting back into the (right) deliverables business&quot\; I feel
a little bad for the static wireframe. It's had a bad year. In fact\, U
X deliverables in general have had a bad couple of years. There's a grow
ing skepticism about the value of Personas and other traditional UX arte
facts\, as well as an onslaught of &quot\;get out of the deliverables bu
siness&quot\; refrains from Lean methodologies. All of this led me to lo
ts of introspection about deliverables\, and if it’s actually possible t
o create deliverables that are useful to help create better products. In
this talk I’ll tell our story. How we stripped down all our deliverable
s to almost nothing\, and then started building it all up again slowly b
y asking ourselves\, “What is absolutely necessary for us to do a great
job?” I’ll discuss some of the deliverables we’ve since created (such as
Expanded Journey Maps and Content Slice Diagrams)\, how they’re useful
to us\, and how you might be able to use them in your design process as
well. We’ve come to realise that not all UX deliverables are bad. Only b
ad deliverables are bad. &#13\;\n&#13\;\n&#13\;\nAbout Rian Rian is pass
ionate about designing and building software that people love to use. Af
ter spending several years working in Silicon Valley\, he is currently D
irector of User Experience at consultancy Flow Interactive in South Afri
ca. He also writes regularly about design\, technology\, and software de
velopment for Smashing Magazine and his own site\, Elezea.\n\nTags: meet
