DESCRIPTION:Portland Linux/Unix Group Advanced Topics Meeting Announcemen
 t&#13\;\n&#13\;\nWho: Michael What's His Name&#13\;\nWhat: CFPs from Ann
 ouncement to Reimbursements&#13\;\nWhere: Free Geek\, 1731 SE 10th Avenu

 p://pdxlinux.org/live/&#13\;\n&#13\;\nCFPs or Calls for Papers/Participa
 tion are something you generally are oblivious to or schedule your whole
  year around. A CFP is what conference organizers use to formally announ
 ce their desire for speakers at an upcoming event. They often set guidel
 ines and requirements for the talk and the organizers of successful conf
 erences can find themselves rejecting hundreds of proposals. Michael wil
 l analyze a number of prominent open source community CFPs and will step
  through every stage of a CFP that requires an extended abstract\, paper
  and presentation. Attendees will hear repeatedly how astonishingly easy
  some CFPs (like PLUG's) are to respond to and in will fact have their p
 roposals ready by the end of the talk.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nMany will head to
 the Lucky Lab at 915 SE Hawthorne Blvd. after the meeting.&#13\;\n&#13\;
