DESCRIPTION:How can we create community based game development for social
good?&#13\;\n&#13\;\nHosted by the 4th Annual Emergent Learning Commons
  conference.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nPresenters: &#13\;\nValerie Egan of Donate L
ife Northwest&#13\;\nBrandon Bozzi of Game It Forward&#13\;\nLocal game
developers Corvus Elrod\, David Galiel and Wolfgang Wozniak &#13\;\n&#13
\;\nHackathons and game jams often suffer from top-down approaches led b
y technology rather than the needs of users and clients. We flip this
by inviting NPOs and NGOs to share their missions\, goals and challenges
\; and\, one of our case studies comes from Donate Life Northwest\, an o
rgan donation non-profit seeking to update their video game Scalpel Pal.
&#13\;\n&#13\;\nOur panel explores ways to approach the challenges of
these NPOs and NGOs through game-based design perspectives. Following t
he conference\, we will be hosting a startup game jam\, Guts for Glory\,
to develop games for Donate Life Northwest.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n\n\nTags: pr
