DESCRIPTION:Cost: $25&#13\;\nPlease bring:&#13\;\n- Scissors&#13\;\n- A b
ag or garment to modify – please choose something made of a non-stretch
fabric.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nDreaming of bike gloves that light up to keep you
visible at night\, or an awesome illuminated costume? Or maybe you’d li
ke to add a bit of extra sparkle to your living room with a glowing thro
w pillow… Whatever project you have in mind\, if you’re curious about th
e process of integrating electronics into fabric\, this workshop is a gr
eat place to start.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nShannon Henry and Cat Poole will star
t by touching on some of the interesting things being developed with eTe
xtile methods and useful resources\, then we’ll spend some hands on time
laying out a basic LED circuit and sewing it on to fabric using conduct
ive thread. You’ll learn how to convert standard LEDs (and other electro
nic components) into sew-able ones\, and how to use standard textile fas
tenings like zippers and snaps to switch your project on and off\, plus
lots of tips on how to make your project easier and make sure it lasts.&
#13\;\n&#13\;\nNo prior electronics or sewing experience required. Condu
ctive thread and electronic components will be provided.&#13\;\n&#13\;\n

\n&#13\;\nAbout the instructors:&#13\;\nShannon Henry loves to make thin
gs that blend the science &amp\; tech world with art and crafts. She has
been crafting with fabric since she could handle safety scissors\, and
began integrating electronics into her art in 2008. Her eTextile work ha
s been shown in San Francisco\, New York\, and Vancouver BC. She also de
velops sewn electronics kits and tutorials\, which you can find at her w
 ebsite\, Polymathdesignlab.com.&#13\;\n&#13\;\nCat Poole is a one woman
instigator of perception bending mayhem. Through “Discovering Empowermen
t Through Creativity” workshops and Upcycled Electronics\, she encourage
s all to defy their programming and void all warranties. Find out more a
